Creating a Blue Zone Community..

We are very pleased to announce that Decorah has been selected a Blue Zone Demonstration Community. We will be working with a team from Wellmark to develop a plan and keep the community moving forward to a happier and healthier future. We will update as often as we can and keep you posted on our progress.

Our Mission:
To build into the fabric of families, organizations, companies, local government, and institutions, prosperity, vitality, and stewardship.

Our Vision:
Living well, making wise and future-minded choices, providing rich and diverse experiences.

Our Values:
Healthy living, vibrant economy, measurable stewardship, disciplined collaboration, genuine hospitality.

Blue Zone Certification Criteria

In order for a community to become Blue Zones certified, it must meet certain criteria. If Decorah pursues the certification, the leadership team will meet with Blue Zone coordinators and work will begin on a plan going into 2013.

Make Decorah a Blue Zone!

Changes to a community's physical, social, and policy environment can make it easier for it's citizens to adopt Power 9™ principles and enjoy longer, better lives. That's the idea behind the Blue Zones Community model.
Let's make Decorah a happier, healthier, and longer-living community!
