SUMMARY:Annual Chamber Golf Outing
DESCRIPTION:*** Scroll to bottom of page for team registration***\nGolf carts need to be reserved directly with Oneota – Call 563-382-4407\nGet ready for the best Monday of your summer at the Annual Chamber Golf Outing – Monday\, June 22nd. This is a great professional networking day for our business community. This event is hosted at Oneota Golf & Country Club. We encourage teams to arrive by 9 AM to enjoy refreshments\, check-in\, and participate in the Calcutta. Shotgun start at 10 AM. Lunch is included and available on the turn. The tournament typically concludes by 5 PM. \n  \nThank you to our generous sponsors for this event: \nHospitality Sponsor: WinnMed \nGolf Cart Sponsor: Nagle Signs \nBeverage Cart Sponsor: Casper Plumbing & Heating \nHole Sponsors: JB Holland Construction\, Decorah Bank & Trust\, Viking State Bank\, BeMobile – Verizon\, Gallagher\, KAR Auto\, Decorah Walmart\, Stanley Engineered Fastening\, Kerndt Bros Storage\, Heartland Wealth Partners\, The Highlands – Aase Haugen\, Lizzie’s Lofts\, Echelon Wealth Partners\, Hacker Nelson and Co\, P.C.\, Rilling Family Chiropractic\, Fox Rehabilitation\, SERVPRO of Decorah\, Prairie Lakes \n\n  \nTournament Information \nThis tournament is a best-shot tournament. Each person tees off and after all players have driven\, the team uses the best lie. Subsequently\, each player then uses the selected lie to continue. This process continues throughout the play of the hole. \nMen 62 & Under tee from the WHITE. \nWomen tee from the GREEN. \nMen 63-74 tee from the GOLD. \nMen 75+ tee from the GREEN. \nTeam members can drop the ball within a club length of the selected shot but cannot use the club length to provide relief from a sand trap\, water hazard or move yourself onto a green from the fringe or out of the rough. \nOne score is recorded per team. A team captain needs to be selected to keep an accurate score. It is your team’s responsibility to turn in your score card at the Registration Table at the end of play. \nMaximum score per hole will be a triple bogey. Ex: Par 4 – stroke limit of 7; Par 3 – stroke limit of 6; Par 5 – stroke limit of 8. If you are two over par and not in the hole proceed to the next hole and record a double bogey score. \nCards are marked to indicate your team’s starting hole. For the first hole\, the team will tee off in alphabetical order. On subsequent holes\, the team with the lowest score on the previous hole will play first\, then the other team will tee off. \nPlease keep carts in designated areas and at least 30 feet from all greens. Please use cart paths where available. \nEach team will receive a 60 ft. length of string to use anywhere during the 18 holes of golf. \nThe following rules apply to the string: \n\nPlayers cannot use the string to make a shot. You can put it next to the hole and must count the putt as one shot.\nThey are not to be counted as a stroke. They add on to the shots you have taken and put you closer to the hole. Example using the string: Your team hits two shots on a par five and your ball is not quite on the green. You take 15 feet of string and this puts you next to the hole in two\, and then you putt shot three in for an eagle.\nOnce string has been used for a shot. That portion cannot be used again. **Please do not leave string remnants on the course.\n\n  \nHole Events \nGolf events are an individual competition with individual winners. Prizes for hole contest winners will be given on an individual basis\, not on a team basis. In the event of a tie\, the prize will go to the first qualifier. You must play the qualifying ball. \nUse card holder to mark ball position and record players name on card. For closest to pin events leave card on the fringe—do not remove holder. Use tape measure to measure to ball (leave the pin in the hole and measure from pin to ball.) \n

SUMMARY:Stay Safe\, Take a Break
DESCRIPTION:Stay Safe\, Take A Break Farmer Appreciation Event (date to be announced) \nThe Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 22nd annual Stay Safe\, Take a Break event which celebrates and serves farmers during the fall harvest.  Stay Safe\, Take a Break began in 2004 to help fight farmer fatigue and keep workers safe in Winneshiek County during the fall harvest. \nThis event\, led by members of the Chamber’s Agriculture Committee\, will facilitate the in-field delivery of 180 goody bags to farmers in the NORTHWEST quadrant of Winneshiek County.  The bags will be filled with the donations from area businesses and have historically included items like work gloves\, tire pressure gauges\, and snacks.  The Chamber accepts donations for these goodie bags from community members or businesses that would like to show appreciation for local producers.  Donations will be accepted through October 13th\, at which time the Decorah FFA students will help assemble bags. \nWinneshiek County is home to more than 2\,000 active farms which raise hogs\, dairy and beef cattle\, corn\, soybeans\, hay\, and produce. The Chamber is proud to support this sector through the work of their Agriculture Committee which includes over 15 professionals from Winneshiek County.  Their work throughout the year supports educational events\, two scholarships\, and appreciation events like this. For more information on how you can contribute to this and other ag-related programs\, contact the DACC at (563) 382-3990. \n2025 Ag Partners: Anderson Law Office\, Viking State Bank & Trust\, Norwegian Mutual Insurance Agency\, WinnMed\, and Farm Credit Services \n2025 Stay Safe\, Take a Break Sponsors: DuTrac Credit Union and Kerndt Brothers Bank

This week of recognition and celebration was first started in 2011 by The Manufacturing Institute\, a part of the National Association of Manufacturers\, as a way to celebrate America’s manufacturing sector and all its contributions to the economy.  The Decorah Area is stronger because of manufacturing businesses and their local and America-based production. The manufacturing sector here sustains 2\,000 jobs and the investments it makes into our business ecosystem and local community projects is a powerful force for economic health and a higher quality of life. National Manufacturing Week is a great opportunity to recognize these employers and their workforce. \nThe Decorah Area has a diverse and skilled labor force with manufacturing and construction holding nearly a quarter of the jobs. In the manufacturing sector alone\, there are more than 20 businesses\, and those businesses include some of the area’s largest employers: Stanley Engineered Fastening\, Collins Aerospace\, Deco Products\, Gemini\, Inc. and Iowa Rotocast Plastics. The 2024 Labor Force Profile provided by Iowa Workforce Development for the Decorah area has the manufacturing category at 11.3% of the total labor force\, behind healthcare & social services (14.9%) and wholesale retail trade (13.8%) but above construction (10.7%) and agriculture (9.9%). National Manufacturing Week is seven days long\, but the gratitude for Decorah’s manufacturing sector extends throughout the year.
