SUMMARY:Stay Safe\, Take a Break Event
DESCRIPTION:The Chamber Ag Committee will deliver 180 goodie bags to producers in the Southeast quadrant of Winneshiek County. \nStay Safe\, Take A Break Farmer Appreciation Event Scheduled for October 24th \nThe Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 20th annual Stay Safe\, Take a Break event which celebrates and serves farmers during the fall harvest.  Stay Safe\, Take a Break began in 2004 to help fight farmer fatigue and keep workers safe in Winneshiek County during the fall harvest. \nThis event\, led by members of the Chamber’s Agriculture Committee\, will facilitate the in-field delivery of 180 goody bags to farmers in the southeast quadrant of Winneshiek County.  The bags will be filled with the donations from area businesses and have historically included items like work gloves\, tire pressure gauges\, and snacks.  The Chamber is currently accepting donations for these goodie bags from community members or businesses that would like to show appreciation for local producers.  Donations will be accepted through October 23rd\, at which time the Decorah FFA students will help assemble bags. \nWinneshiek County is home to more than 2\,000 active farms which raise hogs\, dairy and beef cattle\, corn\, soybeans\, hay\, and produce. The Chamber is proud to support this sector through the work of their Agriculture Committee which includes over 15 professionals from Winneshiek County.  Their work throughout the year supports educational events\, two scholarships\, and appreciation events like this. For more information on how you can contribute to this and other ag-related programs\, contact the DACC at (563) 382-3990.

SUMMARY:Young Professionals - May
DESCRIPTION:The Young Professional Series is supported year-round by the 2023 Lead Sponsor Decorah Bank & Trust Co.\, Supporting Sponsors Stanley Engineered Fastening – Decorah\, IA and KAR Auto Group\, and Contributing Sponsors Oneota Valley Family Eye Care and Hy-Vee. \n———————————– \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Chamber’s May 25th Young Professional event is an Intro to Pickleball. We are partnering with Decorah Parks and Recreation and local pickleball enthusiasts (Decorah Pickleball) to bring you a crash course in the fastest growing sport in America. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at the Decorah High School Tennis Courts (which are close to John Cline Elementary) at 430pm. Parking is along Claiborne Drive next to the courts. You can play in business casual attire (we tried it)\, but be thoughtful of your footwear. The court size is smaller than a tennis court but there is still some running and\, if you’re ambitious\, jumping. You may want to bring a water bottle or sunglasses. Paddles and balls provided courtesy of Decorah Parks and Rec. Expert Picklers will be on the courts to help everyone learn rules\, scoring\, and strategy. There will be both dill and sweet pickles available for your snacking convenience.\n\n\nThank you to our May event sponsor Northwestern Mutual (Harlan Satrom is an avid player!) \n\n\n\n(This summer Decorah Parks and Recreation\, in collaboration with Decorah Pickleball\, will be offering great Pickleball opportunities. So consider this your way to see what it’s all about and if it’s something you might enjoy doing more regularly.)\n—————————–\nWe get asked all the time about the cutoff for “Young” and we say the general rule of thumb is 40(ish) but we promise to never card you! Chamber members and nonmembers welcome. No cost to attend. No registration required.
