On June 1st, Coffee Break celebrated one year in business! Chamber Ambassadors joined owners Jacob & Miranda to cut a celebratory red ribbon and say Thank You for their retail space in downtown Decorah which has built an amazing reputation in such a short time. This Hobby Shop offers Sports and Trading Cards, a wide variety of Comic Books (with new releases each week), and unique Collectibles. The shop is also an official distributor for Legos.
Ambassadors learned about the name inspiration – both a great place to enjoy a “coffee break” during a busy day and a place that offers the exclusive collector card “breaks” that fans locally line-up to be a part of. ( A ‘break’ is a practice where a seller opens sealed card products – like boxes or cases – and distributes the cards to customers who have purchased ‘slots’ or bids in the break. )
We loved the Local Artist Series of Art Trading Cards and even got to meet one of the artist at the ribbon cutting event (Thanks for posing for a photo Adam Jones!). The series celebrates unique art & style and has a dedicated display case space for the pocket-sized pieces of art. Each artist is paid for cards sold and a portion of every card sale goes to a charity/foundation of the artist’s choosing.
