Decorah Businesses Join in Vesterheim Commons Dedication Celebration on Sept 30th
More than 25 Decorah businesses will show support for Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum this Saturday for the Vesterheim Commons Dedication.
September 30 at 1:30 PM Vesterheim will host a public dedication for the new Commons building. The community event includes a ribbon cutting by the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce and welcome presentations. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy activities throughout Vesterheim’s Heritage Park from 2PM – 4PM with refreshments, tours, folk art demonstrations, Decorah’s Nordic Dancers, storytelling with Carol Hagen, Eden Ehm on Hardanger fiddle, and Luren Singers.
As a way to expand the celebration and show support for the museum, the Decorah Area Chamber coordinated with area businesses. Twelve dining and drink establishments will offer a Norwegian feature. Sugar Bowl will do their gnome sundaes (typically only offered during Nordic Fest), TBocks Sports Bar & Grill, Water Street Deli, and Rubaiyat Restaurant will do Swedish Meatballs, and Pulpit Rock Brewery will do a sale on Saftig cans. The new Salú spa has a special on their Nordic Cycle (cold plunge and sauna). Fourteen retail businesses will feature products. Agora Arts will have free samples of Uffda Juice, Heavenly Made Gift Shop has a sale on gnomes, and Decorah Hatchery will have Norwegian brand Kari Traa at 30% off.
“Our local businesses are proud to show support for the Vesterheim Museum,” says Chamber Director Jessica Rilling, “and we hope that the dining and shopping features encourage people to extend their time in the Decorah area.”
