Stay Safe, Take a Break – Farmer Appreciation Event

October 22

The Chamber Ag Committee will deliver 180 goodie bags to producers in the Southwest quadrant of Winneshiek County.

Stay Safe, Take A Break Farmer Appreciation Event Scheduled for October 22nd (date subject to change based on harvest)

The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 21st annual Stay Safe, Take a Break event which celebrates and serves farmers during the fall harvest.  Stay Safe, Take a Break began in 2004 to help fight farmer fatigue and keep workers safe in Winneshiek County during the fall harvest.

This event, led by members of the Chamber’s Agriculture Committee, will facilitate the in-field delivery of 180 goody bags to farmers in the southwest quadrant of Winneshiek County.  The bags will be filled with the donations from area businesses and have historically included items like work gloves, tire pressure gauges, and snacks.  The Chamber is accepts donations for these goodie bags from community members or businesses that would like to show appreciation for local producers.  Donations will be accepted through October 18th, at which time the Decorah FFA students will help assemble bags.

Winneshiek County is home to more than 2,000 active farms which raise hogs, dairy and beef cattle, corn, soybeans, hay, and produce. The Chamber is proud to support this sector through the work of their Agriculture Committee which includes over 15 professionals from Winneshiek County.  Their work throughout the year supports educational events, two scholarships, and appreciation events like this. For more information on how you can contribute to this and other ag-related programs, contact the DACC at (563) 382-3990.
