Chamber Ambassadors helped kick off the 50th Year of Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum – Burr Oak, Iowa with a Red Ribbon Cutting! What an amazing milestone!
The Laura Days celebration over the weekend was filled with fun: a parade, lessons in the schoolhouse, pioneer games, a pie auction, tours, and special guest appearance by Allison Arngrim who played Nellie Oleson in the Little House on the Prairie TV series.
Did you know:
> Burr Oak’s Masters Hotel (where the Ingalls family lived and worked in 1876) is the only childhood home of Laura Ingalls Wilder that remains on its original site. It is on the National Register of Historical Places.
> The historic bank building in Burr Oak was the location of the first bank robbery in Winneshiek County. If you haven’t been in lately, this building now houses North Winn School Memorabilia and County History!
Thank you to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum Board of Directors and Staff for all you do to preserve, celebrate, and share this history!
